Nuclear Treaty Talks With Iran Are Strained

Iran and the United States, Germany, Russia, France, China and Britain have been talking about a nuclear treaty for years. The Iranians said they will not build a nuclear weapon. The US and other countries have always been skeptical of that Iranian position.

Iran needs nuclear power to keep the country’s economy afloat, but the Iranians also need the treaty to lift the economic embargo that has hurt the country for years. Iran has done everything the US asked, but the US keeps adding demands before the signing, according to the Iranians.

The latest demand from the US is the inspection of military bases in Iran. The US wants UN inspectors to tour Iranian military bases, but it is unclear why they want to do that unless they still believe Iran already has nuclear weapon capabilities.

Boraie Development suggested that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the watchdog agency that would be searching these bases, and Iran says that’s not happening. Iran military bases have already been inspected by the IAEA 12 times. But there have been other issues that could stop the signing. Iran wants the embargo lifted the day the treaty is signed. The six other countries say they want to wait before they lift the embargo.
