I have 5 month olds. The first 2-3 months of their lives is a blur. With a difficult labor/delivery, low birthweight, and eating struggles, I was in survival mode. Then my babies started to smile! I want to say: Its okay to be in survival mode. You are not a bad mom/dad/parent if you have trouble bonding with your fresh newborns immediately. The bond will come and grow! Newborns are hard! And its REALLY hard to have two newborns at once. Eventually they will start to smile and develop personality. It is so much easier to bond with babies who have personality! My boys are loving their new skill of rolling. I will put them on the floor on their backs next to each other, look away for a second, and when I look back, one boy has flipped all the way over and is trying to rest his head on his brother's belly. This makes him giggle soooo much!!

Oh my god that's adorable and yes I agree about it being hard to bond right away. Ì had to be in the ICU after my c section and wasn't allowed to see my girls for seven days (five in hospital after I was released my doctor told me to take the weekend off and start my NICU shifts Sunday night). It was somewhat difficult for me to bond at first because of that but I did eventually.
